Raising Successful Children: A Mother’s Journey

I don't usually tell people I am a single mum. The reason being the judging looks and perceptions I got in the early times. I also didn't want the pity or the ‘I am less than them’ looks either. My girls were only 1 and 4 at that time and many people said they will grow up to be of 'no good' in a 'broken family'.

Today it's different. My elder girl Heerraa, is pursuing her studies at Harvard. She also won Four Music Award in US as Best Entertainer and Best Pop Artist in 2021. Heerraa is an inspiration to many in her mission to change the world through music. My younger girl, Harsha is an undergraduate in the University Pennsylvania. Both my daughters are studying in Ivy League Universities in the US where the cream of the world is. Both of them started their own business to pay for their own studies. Harsha is the author of her own book ‘The Makings of A Teenage Entrepreneur’, and is an inspiration to many youngsters and adults alike. Both, Heerraa and Harsha are Diana Award winners in 2019 for their work in Ascendance, a Nationwide Youth Movement. Despite all these success and their busy schedules, they have remained humble. loving and make me very much a part of their lives.

Some things I learned the hard way, many things I was fortunate to do it right. Heerraa and I are writing this book, sharing our lessons truthfully to all parents of future successful children.
